Can't Get Enough of Alison Drinking Her Bottle!

Alison looking cute in her diaper drinking from her bottle!
Milk and food all over her face (she got some baby cereal before her bottle) She is so beautiful, just look at those eyes!

Alison before bedtime hanging out in the playroom with mommy sporting her kitty-cat pajamas with pink leopard print (so cute!!)

Chris ran into some fake grass people today, they are going to stop by tomorrow and give us the skinny of what it takes to get fake!

Dinner at Lex and Dave's

I think its super cute when I walk into Alison's room in the morning and she is happily standing up holding onto her crib railing. So much so when she did it this morning I ran and grabbed the camera :)
Unfortunately when I came back with the camera she wasn't too happy... apparently she didn't like me opening the door looking at her and running off to grab the camera, lol I still like the picture with her name in the background. You can easily read her face "Come get me already!"

I took some pictures with my phone but I think Chris updated the computer....anyways I couldn't figure out how to upload them....Sometimes I really wish things would just stay the same. Here is one picture I just copied it from my email so the quality is really poor. Alison is drinking a lactose based formula before we head out to go to Mrs. Lex's house. She is wearing her purple Batman shirt. Daddy loved that shirt so I always try and put it on her when I know he wants to show her off.

The dinner... I brought my camera and even put it in my pocket but Alison was not having it. She had kind of a hard day today. I think the teething really bothered her. She was really fussy and at the dinner she wouldn't let anyone, not even daddy, hold her. She wanted mommy the entire time so my hands were full. It might have been just too many people. There was another baby (3 months old) and another couple there as well.

I felt bad for little Ali. But she did get some home cooked beans! Alison really seems to like beans. Right now she isn't really a picky eater, thank goodness (I know I was) but I won't be surprised if that changes when she gets older. She liked them so much Mrs. Lex sent her some with a little container of left overs!

Tuesday....

I didn't take any pictures today... Didn't really do anything other than stay at home. We are going to visit a friend tomorrow, Lex. She is the one Chris ran the marathon with. her and her husband are expecting their first baby, a little boy. They are always fun to be around.

Alison is still taking a bottle, although.....did you know that in the 'Soy' based formula the main ingredient is corn syrup solids? Alison was drinking that...and boy did she like it! But after mommy read the ingredients we switched to the lactose based kind. I looked up what 'corn syrup solids' are and found out that its nothing more than a dehydrated version of corn syrup, often used in powdered coffee creamers, and in this case baby formula.

Here is the ingredient list:

Corn Syrup Solids (43.2%), Soy Protein Isolate (14.6%), High Oleic Safflower Oil (11.5%), Sugar (10.3%) (Sucrose), Soy Oil (8.4%), Coconut Oil (7.7%), Less than 2%:, C. Cohnii Oil (Source of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)), M Alphina Oil (Source of Arachidonic Acid (ARA)), Calcium Phosphate, Potassium Citrate, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Ascorbic Acid, Choline Chloride, L Methionine, Taurine, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ferrous Sulfate, M Inositol, Mixed Tocopherols, Zinc Sulfate, D Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, L Carnitine, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Cupric Sulfate, Thiamine Chloride Hydrochloride, Vitamin A Palmitate, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Potassium Iodide, Potassium Hydroxide, Phylloquinone, Biotin, Sodium Selenate, Beta Carotene, Vitamin D3, Cyanocobalamin

Wow. There is so much junk in here... I have to say I am really glad Alison waited a while before she got teeth (ending the daytime breastfeeding, although when she is all relaxed at night she doesn't bite so we still breast feed at night). She only has to have formula for about 3 months and then she can have whole cow's milk.

I just want whats best for Alison and I don't think a drink that is 43.2% sugar is the best choice... Anyways I was just a little shocked at that. Oh and that Similac had a recall on their baby formula because of the possibility of beetle parts and larvae being in the powder...fantastic... we are switching to Gerber formula...

Alison Takes a Bottle!!!

Alison is picky, stubborn, very vocal and lets not forget cute as a button. She would NOT absolutly NOT take a bottle without a big to-do. Unfortunatly for her, the teething thing is kind of putting a damper on mommies willingness to breastfeed. Ali likes to bite, bless her little heart. I stopped breastfeeding her during the day and she was only getting food mixed with formula (since she wouldnt take it from the bottle) and drinks of water from a cup because she wouldnt drink formula from a cup either.

Today, she changed her mind and decided that a bottle and formula arn't that bad.

Here she is not only drinking from a bottle but holding it herself!
I know the pic is a little fuzzy... oh well
She drank the whole bottle!
Every last drop!

Happy girl

AHOY! Is That a Baby Pirate?!

The outfit I put together for Alison, I think, turned out really cute. The skull has a little red bow just like Alison! I made the patch out of felt, hand sewed it together and then sewed it onto her shirt.

The party was for our friend's son who turned 4! He is a little ball of energy and I have wrote about him before. He is the one who took random pictures with my camera and his mom is a nurse and his dad recently came back form deployment. They are great friends of ours and Alison loves their son Caiden.

Where are the brown spots in this grass mommy?
The grass was really nice and soft and unlike our yard, no brown spots!

Mommy and Alison both wore skull and cross bone shirts.

Caiden seemed to like the gift we got him. He really enjoyed opening his gifts!
Daddy and Alison. You can't tell from this picture but daddy's shirt says 'navigating the world' and has a pirate like map on the back and a compass on the front. We thought it was pirate-ish

Chris, Alison and I were the only ones who wore pirate garb. We thought about getting Chris a pirate hat since his shirt was only a little pirate-ish but I am kind of glad we didn't, not that we mind being silly but there is a point where you've gone too far. Everyone really loved Alison's outfit and people I didn't even know took pictures of her. It made me really proud to have such a cute baby and of my little handy work on making her an outfit. I didn't take a picture of it (oops!) but I stitched a little heart on one of her sleeves to look like a little tattoo. We had so much fun, we are really blessed to have such great friends!

Day after Quilt Show

No pictures just hanging out at home with Chris and Alison... i will ask him if he took any pictures... The thing I really dislike about our phones though is they don't tell you when you take a picture, its just the picture and no date...

I made a little pirate patch for Alison and sewed in on the front of a onsie. Tomorrow we are going to a friend's son turning 4 pirate birthday party. We got him a play tent and a Curious George Goes Camping book. I hope he likes it. He is a bit hard on toys but the reviews said it was a sturdy little tent!

Quilt Show

Ok... This is the quilt show entry! Its going to be picture heavy but there were so many beautiful quilts I couldn't pick!

We had a great time and Alison was coo-ed over by so many women she must have thought she was something really special (she is but I don't know if she knows that!)

About to get strapped in to go to the Quilt show with mommy!

I thought this was cute, a tie quilt make using her family members ties and their names next to their tie section.
This quilt was made using civil war reproduction fabrics
I thought this quilt was really pretty, it uses the wedding ring pattern in a non traditional way, there are two doves appliqued on each holding one end of a string and in the middle of the string are two gold wedding bands. It was really creative and very pretty.
Close up of one of the doves

I liked this one because of all the needlework! Its a cross stitched alphabet quilt!
Every letter was really cute but of course I liked the "M" square featuring a mermaid

I liked the colors of this quilt and I really liked that the woman who made this used the outlines of her grand children's hands and made appliques with them. you can see one set under the big heart and another in the top left corner. I saw two quilts made by grandmas who did this.
I couldn't believe all the detail in this quilt. It was so neat.
here is a close up
I took several pictures of this and none of them came out very well, probably because I was also holding a squirmy Alison, lol. Hopefully you can see that its supposed to be Alice in Wonderland. There is Alice, the Caterpillar and the cat.
I thought this was pretty, its a little lap quilt.
I really liked the quilts with color in them, they make me feel happy!
here is a close up of one of the squares, a bunny holding a carrot.
Alison after eating her lunch. She had some yogurt and snacks. She was a very good girl the entire time we were there.
This quilt reminded me of our friends Mr. and Mrs. M in Kentucky. Mrs. M had a lot of dachshunds around her house.
I thought this one was cute with the monkeys, of course I had to try and get Alison, my little monkey, in the picture!
Wow. I wish I would have taken a close up of this quilt. It is amazing. Some people are so very talented.
I really liked this quilt, it was a smaller one but I think all deep colors and the little details make it so beautiful.
12 days of Christmas. There was a whole section of Christmas quilts. This one was my favorite holiday one.
Thats a lot of yo-yos! I like the different shades of pink
Here is a close up of those yo-yos
This was my favorite quilt. It was so detailed and colorful. Absolutly besutiful. It is a bunch of woodland creatures and I can't believe someone made this. I really liked this quilt.
Here is a close up. It was all applique. It was so pretty.

I had a lot of fun looking at all the fabrics that were being sold and I even had a sewing machine demonstration. I have to say I looked at a really nice machine that did 40 different stitches , it was a really nice machine (made by brother) I learned that sewing machines are really expensive (thanks for giving me your old machine mom!) and also that I might want a little nicer of a machine then just the basic. I don't know I guess Chris and I will have to come up with a budget and see where that gets us. The guy who gave me the demonstration (I told him I wanted to see the best inexpensive machine, which of course was still expensive) was really knowledgeable about the machines and he told me that they have a 25 year warranty!.... I have never heard of anything having a warranty that long! Alison will be moved out of the house before it falls out of warranty. Anyways I need, well want since sewing is a hobby, a new sewing machine since mine died. I think when it comes time to get one I am going to visit every dealership and find the very best machine. because apparently you keep a sewing machine longer than a car! lol. I think it will be fun to see all the machines and see what they can do. For instance did you know that machines don't need a peddle foot anymore? you can run them with the push of a button! amazing.

I tell you what seeing all those quilts and testing out that machine...it was really fun and I am so glad I enjoy things like that. I wish I would have been in Oklahoma or Florida so I could have dragged certain family members who like sewing along with me to ooh at the quilts!
