Christmas Party!

Chris' work has a Christmas party every year and this is the first time we've been able to go. We were the only ones who brought their child so we were so glad that she acted the part of Christmas Angel.
 Alison brought Baby Abby along

 Alison loves Christmas trees.
 Our friends Sarah and Mike.
I used to work with Sarah when I was in the Navy, Mike too for that matter. These are some of the smartest people I know and some of the nicest. Sarah now works with Chris. Kind of neat how things work out!

Of course we had to smell the tree!

Shhhh Baby's Sleeping!

Even though it was a short work trip its always nice to have daddy home!
I had to wake Alison up to go pick him up from the airport so I got some rare Alison sleeping pictures.
Most of the time Alison immediately wakes up when you open her door no matter how quiet you try to be.
She must have been really tired because not only did I open the door, I turned on the lights and took pictures!
I'll let the pictures do the talking, the last one is my favorite.

St. Nicholas Day

Happy St. Nicholas Day!
I didn't manage to get the pictures off the camera of Alison finding her boots filled with goodies (it saved to the camera and not the memory card...) but here are some lovely pictures!
First thing upon coming down stairs, piano!
Alison outside with the Nova Naturals catalog, she loves looking at the baby dolls lol.
 Checking things out.
Alison got a coloring page of St. Nicholas. She really concentrated on what she was doing!
We picked up our good friend Caiden from day care today so he got to join in the St. Nicholas fun!

Sharing is fun!
We had a really nice day. Our first St. Nicholas Day was a success, maybe next year daddy pants will even be home for it!

St. Nicholas Day Eve

Tomorrow is the Feast of St. Nicholas or simply St. Nicholas Day. This is our first time celebrating it and I have to admit that I have really had fun so far and now know more about the man behind the white beard.
We have been reading stories about St. Nicholas and talking about him.
Anyways, here are some pictures around the house!

I got the tree up today so it will be ready for Alison's new ornament...couldn't get the top to light so hopefully Chris will be able to fix it when he gets home. And that glaring light in the background is not a reflection of the flash; its a lamp that Alison broke the shade on, so its basically a light bulb on a stick.
Our advent calenders!
Mommy's, Alison's and Daddy's.
I am particularly excited to share this with you!
It's our new decoration this year and I love it!
Close up of the nativity.
I've always wanted a German Pyramid but they are a little expensive I was thrilled/giddy/ecstatic to have found this one in perfect condition at a thrift store! ($10!)
We used some of Alison's birthday money to get her this little piano (the rest we put in savings) and it came today! I set it up while she was taking her nap and when she came downstairs, it was love at first sight. She spent *hours* sitting at this little thing banging away on the keys and singing.

Our little musician <3
I made a batch of cookies for tomorrow.
Alison and I did some 'quality assurance', we checked and double checked and are pleased to announce that the cookies passed!
Outside of the sleeping toddler's door, St. Nicholas came and left a small bag of chocolate coins, a couple oranges (one is in the boot), a new Christmas ornament, and a chocolate Santa.
Mommy put her and daddy's shoes out too!
They must have been good this year because they got chocolate and oranges too!
Daddy even got a chocolate orange!
We are picking Caiden up from daycare tomorrow and he is coming over (we are so excited about having him over for St. Nicholas Day!!) So we left out an extra pair of Alison's shoes for Caiden, it looks like he got chocolate, oranges and instead of an ornament he got a little wood puzzle! (under the shoes). We also left out a little wood bowl out for Caiden's mommy and daddy.

Next year I would like to incorporate Advent but since we are traveling this year and are already celebrating a few new holidays I thought it would be best to wait. But one of my favorite blogs Frontier Dreams, is celebrating advent in a really beautiful way. click.
Waldorf does advent with a week each for rocks and minerals, plants, animal kingdom and then mankind. (I believe that's how it goes!) Anyways it's something to look forward to next year.

School Days!

We had playgroup at the Waldorf School today! I love taking Alison to playgroup.

Alison ate an impressive breakfast this morning,
A big bowl of oatmeal and two yogurt cups!
We arrived at school a little early today so I was able to take some pictures!
Alison's little friend and her mom were there too!

These little "boats" are so neat!
You can flip them over and they become a little bridge with steps for the kids to climb over
Alison's friend wasn't able to make it to her birthday party but she gave Alison a gift anyways!
Its a trunki! A cute little suitcase that has wheels and is scooped in the middle so she can ride on it as well.
They knew we were going to be traveling to Florida and thought we would like it and we LOVE it!
Alison pushed it around the rest of the day going "choo choo!"

Daddy came home today as well and brought an early Christmas gift!
 What could it be?
 Alison helps!
 A pretty red coat!
Alison found her new coat to be very snugly.

More Time Outside

After seeing Caiden have fun in the swing at her birthday, Alison is a lot more interested in it.
Before, she was a bit (ok a lot) scared of being in the swing

and a little video!
